Desktop Racing 2 is a racing game that is very entertaining and quite simple. The basic storyline is that there is a college kid who has likes cars, and joins a group of other students who like to "desktop race." This is basically "flicking" matchbox-type cars to race on a desk or other surface. The setting of this game is very interesting; it is "desk-like" in that you have to dodge pencils, books, coffee cups and other obstacles to get to the end.
To control your car, you use the directional pad to move forward ("up" is the gas) or to roll your car forward or backward for stunts. You can also use the "space" bar to jump and the "Z" button for a little extra turbo boost. At the beginning of each level, your goals will be outlined on your "to-do list." You may have to complete the race in a certain amount of time, collect a certain number of coins or perform a number of stunts. Completing each of these to-do items gives you cash rewards, which you can use to upgrade your car. You also collect stars throughout the match, which also contribute to your overall score, along with additional stunts. Stunts also contribute to your turbo meter, which is shown at the top of the screen with your jump force meter. Anytime you see a white card with a red heart on it, you earn a little more health.
As you earn coins, you can go to the shop, where you can purchase upgrades for your car. You may choose to increase your total health, your turbo meter, your wheels (which helps you move faster) or your ability to jump higher. You can also purchase stickers and color effects for your little car.
Overall, this game is perfect for all ages, as it doesn't require much skill and is a great way to pass the time.
